MANUAL HANDLING

Concerned about complying with the law?

Not large enough to have your own in-house training department or are you big enough but just don’t have the time?
Then let us help you by providing training and carry out risk assessments of manual handling operations.

Duties of employers

The regbulations should not be considered in isolation. Regulation 3(1) of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1992 requires employers to make a suitable and sufficient assessment of the risks to health and safety of their employees while at work.

Where it is not reasonably practicable to avoid the need for employees to undertake any manual handling operations at work that involves a risk of them being injured the employer must make a suitable and sufficient assessment of all such manual handling operations.

Course Content

The course is designed around 8 individual Modules and is suitable for all levels of staff handling inanimate objects. These modules represent approximately 4 hours study time for general staff and there is an 8-hour session for managers and supervisors.

While one individual may be able to carry out a perfectly satisfactory assessment, at least in relatively straightforward cases, it can be helpful to draw on the knowledge and expertise of others where the assessment is complex.
